The latest edition of a long-running IBRiS study, commissioned by the Polish Press Agency (PAP), places trust in the armed forces at 94%, up from 92% last year and sharply higher than 70% in 2023. Nato commands the confidence of 76% of respondents, compared with 61% when the series began in 2016. By contrast, trust in the European Union has fallen to 50%, down from 55% last year and 62% in 2023.

IBRiS’s Kamil Smogorzewski said the geopolitical climate and perceived threats on Poland’s eastern flank have elevated institutions seen as central to national defence. He added that the EU’s primarily economic and political role appears less salient amid more immediate security concerns, and noted rising polarisation over Europe within Poland.
