The facility will focus on drone warfare and allied training.

A new joint training hub for Ukrainian and allied troops has begun operations in Poland, with the opening of Camp Jomsborg on 2 October. Set on a Polish military training ground, the centre can host up to 1,200 personnel and is billed as the largest training site dedicated to Ukrainian forces.

Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Yevhen Moysiuk led his country’s delegation at an inauguration ceremony on 1 October, saying the project would deepen the exchange of frontline experience between partners. The camp has been established with backing from European partners, notably Norway, and is framed as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s wider support for Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Training at Camp Jomsborg will place particular emphasis on the use of drones and counter-drone tactics. Its launch follows a recent announcement by Ukraine and Poland of joint programmes on drone and anti-drone systems. The urgency of that cooperation grew after Russian drones violated Polish airspace on 10 September; Poland’s subsequent shoot-downs marked the first time any NATO member had taken such action since the war began.

The facility is already hosting 250 Norwegian instructors, with military personnel from Estonia and other NATO countries expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Officials say the centre is designed to streamline allied instruction for Ukrainian units while accelerating technical developments in unmanned systems and air defence.
